Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/01 16:02 Jim

I tried to increase your pictures of the Lola to 500 pixels instead of the 400 you have them at but they weren't too clear. The pictures of your chassis seem clearer so I'm wondering if you did something differently when you resized them. Any ideas?

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/01 22:27 David,

Maybe my work is just best viewed at lower resolution...I am still quite new at posting photos on blogs, so I may have made a mistake in that part of the process. I will look into it and perhaps post a few sharper photos if I can.

Thanks for the input.

Jim

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/03 03:44 David,

Here's another try at some pix of my Lola.

I hope that they are sharper than my last ones were.

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/03 03:53 Well, it seems that I am still doing something wrong. May I ask those of you who post images here, do you change the size of the image as you bring it into Dave's blog, or as you upload it to the web? I am just bringing mine in from Photobucket and they appear here at 150 KB. I load them at 500 KB. Am I missing a step here?

Thanks for any assistance you can give here.

Jim

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/03 14:37 Hi Jim

The problem is that this forum automatically sets a default size for pictures at 150 pixels wide . Your images are 504 pixels wide so, when you add a picture, you need to edit your post where it says "img size = 150" and change it to "img size= 504". Your pictures will then appear full size.

Regarding going from 500k to 150k, it's likely that Photobucket is also resizing your pictures to be more "web friendly". However as the maximum size suitable for a photo here is 550 pixels I think that is a secondary issue.

Your Lola looks superb!

Kind regards
John

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/04 12:22 Thanks for replying to the sizing problem John and I agree that Jim's Lola is a great looking slot car.

I finished my Lotus 25 this morning.

Maybe someone else can now show some pictures of their work in progress to stop Jim and I hogging the thread!!

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/04 23:39 The Lotus looks gorgeous David.

I'm only just starting on this years cars for Charlie and myself but here are couple of shots of the '62 short-nose Monaco BRM (currently sitting on Charlie's "Goodwood" BRM chassis from last year's series):

I'm also working on the 1964 BRP-BRM but more on that another time.

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/05 17:23 As I look at all of the sleek and elegant examples of the 1.5L cars that have been posted, I wonder at my decision to model a prototype whose ultra-prominent suspension bits and rather lumpy body work rather recalls the less-than-generous description of a ladies' appearance as "having character"

No matter - it is an interesting* challenge in chassis construction - the answer to which is now nearly completed on paper, stretching over several pages of sketches and measurements and notes such as: " the track dimension minus 2 times 1/2 the depth of a BWA wheel equals the dimension of the lower fixing point of the suspension struts" etc, etc.

Re:Cars for the 2008 event. - 2008/05/09 17:21 Time for a quick update on the Monaco BRM now with it's very own chassis:
