2008 UK 1.5 litre Proxy Invitational Rules - 2008/03/15 20:37
Firstly a thank you to Moz and Dave for setting up this new forum for the 2008 UK 1.5 litre Proxy Invitational. Forum moderators will be Dave Jones, David Lawson, Graham Windle and myself.

In general it was felt that the rules worked well last year and these remain substantially the same save some minor amendments to the motor and tyre regulations.

Also, just a word with regard to the timetable. I am hoping that we will be able to follow a similar schedule to last year albeit with the possible addition of one or two new venues. That would mean getting the racing underway early July so please bear that in mind when preparing and sending in your cars.

So, without further ado, the rules:

2008 UK 1.5 litre F1 Proxy Invitational Rules

This is a friendly event with entries by invitation.

General Rules

Cars should be 1/32 scale models of F1 cars from the 1961-65 1.5 litre period.

Hard body shells only. Models should have reasonable scale appearance and representation of authentic colour/number/driver schemes. Wheels, inserts and tyres (see below for limits) should be in keeping with the prototype.

Tyres.
Rears: 0.80" minimum diameter, maximum width 1961-63 0.3", 1964-65 0.36"
Fronts: 0.75" minimum diameter

Only one set of wheels/tyres per car will be permitted throughout the series unless they become unserviceable in which case they may be replaced at the venue host's discretion.

Motors will be resticted to slimline types such as the Scalextric MotoGP/FF (any rpm), Beardog, Go! or similar.

Minimum ground clearance 3mm.

Accurate wheelbase and track (tolerance 1.5mm).

Single guide with a maximum penetration into the slot of 3/16". Guide not to be visible from directly above the car in the straight ahead position.

No traction magnets

Cars not deemed to be within the spirit of the event will be excluded.

There will be no entry fee but entrants will be responsible for their own costs as regards shipping, etc.

Race Management, Points Scoring & Concours

Each venue will be able to choose their own method of running races but ideally each participating driver would keep to a designated lane and drive every car once.

In keeping with the period, points will be awarded to the the top six finishers in each race: 9,6,4,3,2,1. If there are nine or less qualifying races only the best five results will count towards the total. If there are more than nine races the best six results will count. Tied results will be resolved by placings, etc.

Each round will feature a Concours parade with participants at the venue voting for their three favourite models in order of preference (participants attending more than one round should only vote on one occassion). At the end of the series the votes from all rounds will be tallied to decide the Concours winner.
