Who's Online

Welcome to my website!

Hello and welcome to my website.

Dave Jones pictured against an example of his beautiful Lake District landscapes.

My name is Dave Jones but I paint under the name John D. Jones. If you an art lover I hope you will appreciate my work. There are various sections to navigate around and to read as well as examples of my work to look at. I am also an avid modeller and you can see examples of my models on here also.

Being a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists I had three works accepted for their major exhibition in 2001 at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. These exhibitions are not generally known for selling large numbers of works but I was pleased that one of my paintings was actually purchased by the museum to become part of their permanent collection. This painting "Over the Lines", a First World war scene, can also be seen in the gallery.

Since my Website was launched in 2000 I have re-joined the Guild of Aviation Artists and had a successful 2002 Annual exhibition selling two of the three paintings I had accepted. These can now be seen in the gallery. Over the past year I have completed a number of commissions, mainly World War 2 related subjects. Perhaps the most challenging of these was a painting depicting the Battle of Britain Memorial flight. A picture of this will be added to the gallery in a week or so.

I have also tried to give some information on artist techniques as far as they apply to my work, I have recently added a section that details each stage of a paintings creation. There is also some information on how I learnt to be an artist and who influenced me.

I am always open to commissions so if you do like my work and would like to discuss anything with a view to possibly having a unique painting for a loved one or as a treat for yourself
I would love to hear from you .

If you use the pictorial links on the left you can navigate to all the main sections (or the text links below). The gallery section is now fully open and has thumbnails that link to larger versions of my artwork and each larger copy has information on each picture for you to read.

I hope you enjoy my website.

Airfix News

Image Now that both the Humbrol and Airfix brand names are safely in the hands of Hornby Hobbies Ltd. it would seem fitting to provide some sort of update as to recent developments. With Trevor Snowden on board in his capacity as their Chief Development Engineer things are definitely on the move with many new and updated products awaiting official announcement. One other very important aspect is that the Airfix web site www.Airfix.com is back up and running and well worth a visit to keep abreast of what's new.

Until earlier on this year, when Trevor got back in touch, my last work for Airfix was the Lockheed Constellation which was delivered in March 2006. Under the new ownership I have recently completed the four paintings covering the various 1/48th scale Canberras that were announced at Telford in 2005  along with the Sea Harrier for the Falklands gift set. Further to these paintings I have been busy with a number of new works. At this time, of course, I am not a liberty to disclose what the subject matter has been and can only do so as and when the Official announcements have been made. As and when the new projects become public knowledge then my Airfix gallery will be suitably updated.

Site Updates

While doing upgrades on the site this week it became apparent that the Gallery wasn't working as it was supposed to - thanks for the heads up folks! LOL! Well it now operates as intended. The main thumbnail pages are accessible off the new expandable Gallery menu but if you want to see the full size picture then you have to be a member of the site and log in to get access.

Also as you can see elsewhere the new webstore is up and running and there will be various other additions and updates taking place over the next week. Stay tuned!
